The unjust death of George Floyd created civil unrest in the entire country when a white police officer suffocated him to death by taking a knee on his neck.

On Monday, Liverpool stars circled around on the Anfield pitch and took a knee to show solidarity with the BlackLivesMatter movement in support of black people’s resistance in the country. 

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Andrew Robertson, and Trent Alexander tweeted the photograph of the squad with a caption of ‘Unity is strength’. They also hashtagged it with #blacklivesmatter to show where their support stands. 

The gesture of taking a knee has become a national symbol of the fight against oppression and injustice against racism prevalent in North America against black people.

When Marcus Thuram went down on knee after scoring against Union Berlin. Jadon Sancho,  the Borussia Dortmund star, revealed his t-shirt with the message ‘Justice for George Floyd’ as he celebrated his first of three goals on Sunday against Paderborn. 

He also took it to Twitter to express his sentiments on the heart-wrenching matter and wrote that though it is his first professional hat trick and thus a moment to celebrate but there are more important things to worry about these days. 

He believes we must address these problems and make endeavors to make a change in the world. We should fight for justice as one people because together we are stronger.

It was the first training session of the team after long as previously the training session was postponed because of the pandemic situation. The stopping of the session to make such a huge statement by Liverpool players, together as one, is the most powerful support the #blacklivesmatter movement have received recently. 

This is, perhaps, the first time a premier league has made their choice so vocal in a political affair. The young Liverpool striker Brewster stated that this movement is not only about Floyd it is beyond one person as it speaks for the whole race.
