President Donald Trump was spotted golfing at his Virginia club on Saturday, making this his first visit to one of his golf properties since the coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports, the presidential motorcade arrived at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia around 10:30am Eastern Time.
Trump was again seen mask-less and shaking hands with a fellow mask-less golfer, despite CDC’s repeated warning to observe social distancing measures.
This comes after White House coronavirus task force official Dr. Deborah Birx announced that Americans should take this weekend to enjoy the outdoors, but should be done with precaution.
“So please as you go out this weekend, understand you can go out, you can be outside.
You can play golf, you can play tennis with marked balls.
You can go to the beaches if you stay 6 feet apart, but remember that that is your space and that’s a space that you need to protect and ensure that you’re social distanced for others,” said Birx. The President waved at the cameras dressed in a white golf shirt, white cap and dark trousers as he played on the course, practicing his swing and driving around the course in a golf buggy.
The last golf outing Trump had was on March 8 when he went to visit the Trump International Gold Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
This Saturday’s outing marked Trump’s 357th visit to his properties during his term and president.
He previously expressed in an interview how he missed the sport and how his busy schedule made him unable to play amid pandemic.
“I do miss it. I haven’t played really since this problem that we have started. I haven’t been able to play golf for a while, I’ve been very busy and I think it’s just one of those things,” Trump said.
