A wanted man who attempted to evade police by hiding himself in bushes managed to literally blow his own cover with a loud fart.
In the early hours on May 7, the fugitive whose identity is still unknown, had fled into a wooded area close to Harworth, Nottinghamshire with officers in hot pursuit.
However, his hiding place was discovered after he farted, alerting officers to his presence. The suspect, who was reportedly ‘wanted for two matters’, was then taken to Mansfield Custody.
The Facebook post reads:

PC Fenton said: ‘I was almost out of wind running but luckily the suspect still had some. I heard him letting rip and followed the noises to a bush’

Local residents have been left rather amused by this turn of events, with one person commenting, ‘Police have a nose for these things.’ While another one said, ‘Better out than in.’
The suspect was arrested along with another man, who had been found hiding behind a fireplace at a nearby property.
According to a BBC News report, Nottinghamshire Police have said a 35-year-old man was arrested after he failed to appear at court, while the other 30-year old man was arrested in relation to other matters.
This is not the first incident where a suspect has given away their hiding spot by farting.
On July 2019, according to a report by Fox 2, police officers in Clay County, Missouri were able to ‘sniff out’ a wanted man for possession of a controlled substance after they let out a noisy fart.
