A man is going viral after winning a legal battle against his employers at Jaguar Land Rover for unfair dismissal.
According to news agencies, the man was fired for taking a whopping 808 sick days from work. But now, he’s enjoying a life of luxury after winning legal claims against the dismissal.
Meanwhile, media sources confirmed how Vic Rumbold performed his duties at the mega car manufacturing plant, situated in West Midlands.
Here, he worked for the past 20 years but surely wasn’t a regular employee. And that’s because he missed out on hundreds of days of work, over a span of 4 years. These were related to an array of different health conditions.
In the same way, the tribunal explained how they heard about 405 of his missed shifts.
Here, it was also revealed how one of the launch managers, Jon Carter, conducted Rumbold’s employment review in 2018. And that’s where he estimated that the entire cost of his 808 missed ‘sick’ days was about 100,000 British Pounds.
He also added how the company fails to see any form of enthusiasm with the sound of his return. Carter took this opportunity to mention to the tribunal how he ‘honestly has the worst absence record that you’ll ever see.
’ This came with another mention of ‘eight hundred and eight shifts, that cost the organization around 100,000 pounds.’
Also, Carter explained how there wasn’t a single year since 2000, with a full attendance record under his name.
For this reason, the mega organization informed him in December 2018 about his dismissal. This was based on the grounds of ‘conduct and capability.’
However, the tribunal judge, Johnson, disagreed. He mentioned how Jaguar Land Rover failed to accurately apply the standard protocols of Attendance Management Procedures. Also, he declared that the company didn’t reach a level in the situation where they had the right to consider his ‘dismissal.’
This includes failure of any form of counseling or warnings relating to his absences. As far as the cause of his absences are concerned, they include chronic episodes of pain from a severe hip condition.
Doctors diagnosed Rumbold with avascular necrosis disease in 2018 and that led to his giant leave.
